CALL TO WORSHIP

*HYMN 553 And Are We Yet Alive?+
(sung at the opening worship as the traditional first hymn of every Annual Conference and so it was sung at the Florida Annual Conference, which was held in Lakeland Florida June 5 to 7 attended by Pastor David, Marvia Aitken and Judith Pierre Okerson)

1. And are we yet alive, and see each other's face?
Glory and thanks to Jesus give for his almighty grace!

2. Preserved by power divine to full salvation here,
again in Jesus' praise we join, and in his sight appear.

3. What troubles have we seen, what mighty conflicts past,
fightings without, and fears within, since we assembled last!

4. Yet out of all the Lord hath brought us by his love;
and still he doth his help afford, and hides our life above.

5. Then let us make our boast of his redeeming power,
which saves us to the uttermost, till we can sin no more.

6. Let us take up the cross till we the crown obtain,
and gladly reckon all things loss so we may Jesus gain.

Refrain: Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord,
Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Praise ye the Lord

WORDS: Charles Wesley, 1749 MUSIC: Johann G. Nageli; arr. by Lowell Mason, 1845

PRAYER

*PRAISE AND WORSHIP

I will enter his gates (Sing twice)
I will enter his gates with thanksgiving in my heart
I will enter his courts with praise
I will say this is the day that the Lord has made
I will rejoice for he has made me glad

He has made me glad, he has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has made me glad
He has made me glad, he has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has made me glad

Blessed be the name of the Lord (Sing once)
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High!
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord,
Blessed be the name of the Lord Most High!

The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it, and they are saved.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it, and they are saved.

Glory to the name of the Lord,
Glory to the name of the Lord,
Glory to the name of the Lord Most High!
Glory to the name of the Lord,
Glory to the name of the Lord,
Glory to the name of the Lord Most High!

The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it, and they are saved.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it, and they are saved.

Holy is the name of the Lord,
Holy is the name of the Lord,
Holy is the name of the Lord Most High!
Holy is the name of the Lord,
Holy is the name of the Lord,
Holy is the name of the Lord Most High!

The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it, and they are saved.
The name of the Lord is a strong tower,
The righteous run into it, and they are saved.

Step by step (Sing twice)
O God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You
O God, You are my God, and I will ever praise You
I will seek You in the morning
I will learn to walk in Your ways
And step by step You lead me
And I will follow You all of my days

Sanctuary (Sing twice)
Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary
Pure and holy, tried and true
With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living
Sanctuary, for you

Something beautiful (Sing twice)
Something beautiful, something good;
All my confusion He understood.
All I had to offer Him
Was brokenness and strife,
But He made something beautiful of my life.

CHILDREN’S TIME

WELCOMING NEW MEMBERS

MEMBERSHIP VOWS for June 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Brothers and Sisters in Christ; through the Sacrament of Baptism we are initiated into Christ’s holy church.  We are incorporated into God’s mighty acts of salvation and given new birth through water and the Spirit.  All this is God’s gift, offered to us without price. Through the confession of faith, Lynne Chamar Ati, Renee Camelite Louissaint, and Brian Ethan Ralph will be baptized and Jordan Jamielucc Raynor confirms the covenant declared at his baptism, acknowledging what God is doing for them, and together we affirm our commitment to Christ’s holy church.

These persons before you have come forward to declare they are followers of Jesus Christ and to declare or renew their faith and witness to God’s grace. They are ready to take on the responsibilities of full membership.   We ask them to respond to these questions as a testimony to their faith, and I ask you, members of the congregation, to pledge to help them in this task.

On behalf of the whole Church, I ask you: Do you renounce the spiritual forces of wickedness, reject the evil powers of this world, and repent of your sin?  I do.

Do you accept the freedom and power God gives you to resist evil, injustice, and oppression in whatever forms they present themselves?  I do.

Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Savior, put your whole trust in his grace, and promise to serve him as your Lord, in union with the Church which Christ has opened to people of all ages, nations, and races?  I do.

I ask you, as  members of Christ’s universal church, will you be loyal to Christ through The United Methodist Church, and do all in your power to strengthen its ministries and as members of this congregation, will you faithfully participate in its ministries by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness? I will.

Lynne Chamar, Renee Camelite, Brian Ethan  I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and with Jordan Jamielucc we pray the Holy Spirit work within you, that having been born through water and the Spirit, you may live as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. Amen

Members of the household of faith, I commend these persons to your love and care. Do all in your power to increase their faith, confirm their hope, and perfect them in love.

Now of the congregation I ask:
Do you, as Christ’s body, the Church, reaffirm both your rejection of sin and your commitment to Christ?  We do.

Will you nurture one another in the Christian faith and life and include these persons now before you in your care?
With God’s help we will. We give thanks for all that God has already given you and we welcome you in Christian love. As members together with you in the body of Christ and in this congregation of the Miramar United Methodist Church, we renew our covenant faithfully to participate in the ministries of the church by our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

The God of all grace, who has called us to eternal glory in Christ, establish you and strengthen you by the power of the Holy Spirit, that you may live in grace and peace. Amen

The Right Hand of Fellowship. Presentation of new member’s packet. You may greet the new members with applause.

HYMN 159 Lift High the Cross+
(sung at the Annual Conference at the beginning of the ordination service)

Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name.

1 Come, Christians, follow this triumphant sign.
The hosts of God in unity combine.
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name.

2. Each newborn servant of the Crucified
Bears on the brow the seal of him who died,
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name.

3 O Lord, once lifted on the glorious tree,
As thou hast promised, draw the world to thee.
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name.

4 So shall our song of triumph ever be:
Praise to the Crucified for victory!
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
till all the world adore his sacred name.

PRAYER HYMN 707 Hymn of Promise+
(we sing as we remember the servants of God who worked through the appointive system of the Annual Conference, pastors of every kind, and their spouses. We remember for ourselves that we may not be able to see God perform a quick fix but we know him to be the God of the faithful finish.)

1. In the bulb there is a flower; in the seed, an apple tree;
in cocoons, a hidden promise; butterflies will soon be free!
In the cold and snow of winter there’s a spring that waits to be,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

2. There’s a song in every silence, seeking word and melody;
there’s a dawn in every darkness, bringing hope to you and me.
From the past will come the future; what it holds a mystery,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

3. In our end is our beginning, in our time, infinity;
in our doubt there is believing; in our life, eternity.
In our death, a resurrection; at the last a victory,
unrevealed until its season, something God alone can see.

WORDS: Natalie Sleeth, 1986 MUSIC: Natalie Sleeth, 1986

 PRAYER OF INTERCESSION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven:
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

SERMON                  Are we Awakened to Grace?               Pastor David Range

*HYMN OF SENDING FORTH 577 God of Grace and God of Glory+
(sung at the retirement recognition worship service at Annual Conference)

1. God of grace and God of glory,
On thy people pour thy power.
Crown thine ancient Church’s story;
Bring her bud to glorious flower.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the facing of this hour,
For the facing of this hour.

2. Lo! The hosts of evil ’round us,
Scorn thy Christ, assail His ways!
Fears and doubts too long have bound us;
free our hearts to work and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the living of these days,
For the living of these days.

3 Cure thy children’s warring madness,
Bend our pride to thy control;
shame our wanton selfish gladness,
rich in things and poor in soul.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
lest we miss thy kingdom’s goal,
lest we miss thy kingdom’s goal.

4. Save us from weak resignation,
To the evils we deplore;
let the search for thy salvation,
be our glory evermore.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
serving thee whom we adore,
serving thee whom we adore.
