CALL TO WORSHIP

*Opening Hymn 224 Good Christian Friends, Rejoice+

1 Good Christian friends, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice;
give ye heed to what we say:
News, news!
Jesus Christ was born today!
Ox and ass before him bow,
and he is in the manger now.
Christ is born today!
Christ is born today

2 Good Christian friends, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice;
now ye hear of endless bliss:
News, news!
Jesus Christ was born for this!
He hath opened heaven's door,
and ye are blest forevermore.
Christ was born for this,
Christ was born for this!

3 Good Christian friends, rejoice
with heart and soul and voice;
now ye need not fear the grave:
News, news!
Jesus Christ was born to save!
Calls you one and calls you all
to gain his everlasting hall.
Christ was born to save,
Christ was born to save!

*PRAISE AND WORSHIP

Down from His glory
1 Down from His glory, ever-living story
My God and Savior came, and Jesus was His name;
Born in a manger to His own a stranger,
A man of sorrows, tears, and agony
Oh, how I love Him! How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior
And all God's fullness, dwelleth in Him

2 What condescension, bringing us redemption,
That in the dead of night, not one faint hope in sight;
God, gracious, tender, laid aside His splendor,
Stooping to woo, to win, to save my soul.
Oh, how I love Him! How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior
And all God's fullness, dwelleth in Him

3 Without reluctance, flesh and blood, His substance,
He took the form of man, revealed the hidden plan;
O glorious mystery, sacrifice of Calvary!
And now I know He is the great ‘I AM’!
Oh, how I love Him! How I adore Him!
My breath, my sunshine, my all in all!
The great Creator became my Savior
And all God's fullness, dwelleth in Him

Amen
Amen, amen, amen, amen, amen.

1. O see the little baby
lying in a manger
on Christmas morning

2. See Jesus in the temple
talking to the elders
how they all marveled!

3. See Jesus at the sea shore
preaching to the people,
healing all the sick ones!

4. See Jesus on the cross
bearing all my sins
in bitter agony!

5. Yes, Jesus died to save us,
rose on Easter morning,
and lives forever!

6. We're singing Alleluia!
Jesus is my Savior,
who lives forever!

CHILDREN’S TIME

*HYMN 229 Infant Holy, Infant Lowly+

1 Infant holy, infant lowly,
for his bed a cattle stall;
oxen lowing, little knowing,
Christ the babe is Lord of all.
Swift are winging angels singing,
noels ringing, tidings bringing:
Christ the babe is Lord of all.

2 Flocks were sleeping, shepherds keeping
vigil till the morning new
saw the glory, heard the story,
tidings of a gospel true.
Thus rejoicing, free from sorrow,
praises voicing, greet the morrow:
Christ the babe was born for you.

Jesus Loves Me This I Know
1 Jesus loves me! this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

2 Jesus loves me, this I know, as he loved so long ago,
taking children on his knee, saying, "Let them come to me.“
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

3 Jesus loves me still today, walking with me on my way,
wanting as a friend to give, light and love to all who live.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

PRAYER HYMN 221 In the Bleak Midwinter

1 In the bleak midwinter, frosty wind made moan,
earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
in the bleak midwinter, long ago.

2 Our God, heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain;
heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
the Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.

3 Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
but his mother only, in her maiden bliss,
worshiped the beloved with a kiss.

4. What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
yet what I can I give him: give my heart.

WORDS: Christina G. Rosseti, 1872 MUSIC: Gustav Holst, 1906

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION and THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name; Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven:
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

HYMN OF SENDING FORTH 238 Angels We Have Heard on High+

1. Angels we have heard on high
sweetly singing o'er the plains,
and the mountains in reply
echoing their joyous strains.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

2. Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
which inspire your heavenly song?
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

3 Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ whose birth the angels sing,
come, adore on bended knee,
Christ the Lord, the newborn King.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

4. See him in a manger laid,
whom the choirs of angels praise,
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,
while our hearts in love we raise.
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
Gloria, in excelsis Deo!
