CALL TO WORSHIP

*HYMN 160 Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart+

1 Rejoice, ye pure in heart;
rejoice, give thanks and sing;
your glorious banner wave on high,
the cross of Christ your King.
Rejoice, (rejoice), rejoice, (rejoice),
rejoice, give thanks and sing.

2 Your clear hosannas raise,
and alleluias loud;
whilst answering echoes upward float,
like wreaths of incense cloud.
Rejoice, (rejoice), rejoice, (rejoice),
rejoice, give thanks and sing.

3 Yes, on through life's long path,
still chanting as ye go;
from youth to age, by night and day,
in gladness and in woe.
Rejoice, (rejoice), rejoice, (rejoice),
rejoice, give thanks and sing.

4 At last the march shall end;
the wearied ones shall rest,
the pilgrims find their heavenly home,
Jerusalem the blest.
Rejoice, (rejoice), rejoice, (rejoice),
rejoice, give thanks and sing.

5 Praise God, who reigns on high,
the Lord whom we adore:
the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost,
one God forevermore.
Rejoice, (rejoice), rejoice, (rejoice),
rejoice, give thanks and sing.

WORDS: Edward H. Plumptre, 1865 MUSIC: Arthur H. Messiter, 1889

PRAYER

*PRAISE AND WORSHIP

We are marching in the light of God (sing once)
1. We are marching in the light of God,
we are marching in the light of God,
we are marching in the light of God,
we are marching in the light of God!
We are marching, marching, marching,
O we are marching in the light of God.
We are marching, marching, marching,
O we are marching in the light of God.

2. We are living in the love of God,
we are living in the love of God,
we are living in the love of God,
we are living in the love of God!
We are living, living, living,
O we are living in the love of God!
We are living, living, living,
O we are living in the love of God.

3. We are moving in the power of God,
we are moving in the power of God,
we are moving in the power of God,
we are moving in the power of God!
We are moving, moving, moving,
O we are moving in the power of God!
We are moving, moving, moving,
O we are moving in the power of God.

We bring a sacrifice of praise (Sing twice)
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Into the house of the Lord.
And we offer up to you
The sacrifices of thanksgiving;
And we offer up to you
The sacrifices of joy.

What a mighty God (Sing twice)
What a mighty God we serve.
What a mighty God we serve.
Angels bow before Him.
Heaven and earth adore Him.
What a mighty God we serve.

Lord, I lift you name on high (Sing twice)
Lord, I lift Your name on high
Lord, I love to sing Your praises
I'm so glad You're in my life
I'm so glad You came to save us

You came from heaven to earth, to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord, I lift Your name on high

Give thanks(sing once)
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks, because he’s given
Jesus Christ, his Son.
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
give thanks to the Holy One;
give thanks, because he’s given
Jesus Christ, his Son.

And now let the weak say ‘I am strong’,
let the poor say ‘I am rich’,
because of what the Lord has done for us;
and now let the weak say ‘I am strong’,
let the poor say ‘I am rich’,
because of what the Lord has done for us.
Give thanks…

From time to time the church has a New Member Session. The pastor has a gathering in his office after the service which takes about an hour as those who have served longer in the church as members talk about their experiences of finding this church and becoming involved in whatever ways God has led them. Those seeking full membership are invited to share their experiences also and we talk together about the ways that each Christian can deepen their walk with Jesus through a commitment to membership. The once-off New Member Session is not a class but if a time of study or a class is desired the Confirmation Class/New Member Class of ten sessions is offered in the new year and is held every other Saturday from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This is especially important to our youth but those seeking God’s direction and want more information are welcome at any age. Whatever direction is preferred there is a time when new members are welcomed “formally” in a church service by making promises and pledging to help support the church in various ways. Many have enjoyed these times of fellowship and learning and if you would like to join one of these Sessions or the Class please speak to Pastor David.

Preschool places are available for ages 1 to 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. HYMN 1373 Nothing Between+

1 Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
naught of this world's delusive dream;
I have renounced all sinful pleasure;
Jesus is mine, there's nothing between.
Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
so that his blessed face may be seen;
nothing preventing the least of his favor;
keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

2 Nothing between, like worldly pleasure;
habits of life, though harmless they seem,
must not my heart from him ever sever;
He is my all, there's nothing between.
Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
so that his blessed face may be seen;
nothing preventing the least of his favor;
keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

3 Nothing between, like pride or station;
self, or friends shall not intervene;
though it may cost me much tribulation,
I am resolved, there's nothing between.
Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
so that his blessed face may be seen;
nothing preventing the least of his favor;
keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

4 Nothing between, e'en many hard trials,
though the whole world against me convene;
watching with prayer and much self denial,
I’ll triumph at last, there's nothing between.
Nothing between my soul and my Savior,
so that his blessed face may be seen;
nothing preventing the least of his favor;
keep the way clear! Let nothing between.

Jesus Loves Me This I Know
1 Jesus loves me! this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

2 Jesus loves me, this I know, as he loved so long ago,
taking children on his knee, saying, "Let them come to me.“
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

3 Jesus loves me still today, walking with me on my way,
wanting as a friend to give, light and love to all who live.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

PRAYER HYMN 338 Where He Leads Me I will Follow+

1. I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
I can hear my Savior calling,
"Take thy cross and follow, follow me."
Where he leads me I will follow,
where he leads me I will follow,

I'll go with him, with him all the way.

2. I'll go with him through the garden,
I'll go with him through the garden,
I'll go with him through the garden,
I'll go with him, with him all the way.
Where he leads me I will follow,
where he leads me I will follow,
where he leads me I will follow;
I'll go with him, with him all the way.

3 I'll go with him through the judgment,
I'll go with him through the judgment,

Where he leads me I will follow,
where he leads me I will follow,
where he leads me I will follow;
I'll go with him, with him all the way.

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION AND THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven:
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

SERMON      Oh, my aching back      Pastor David Range

*HYMN OF SENDING FORTH 377 It Is Well with My Soul+

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows like sea billows roll;
whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say,
It is well, it is well with my soul.
It is well, (it is well) with my soul, (with my soul)
it is well, it is well with my soul.

2. Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and hath shed his own blood for my soul.
It is well, (it is well) with my soul, (with my soul)
it is well, it is well with my soul.

3 My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought!
My sin, not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more,
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
It is well, (it is well) with my soul, (with my soul)
it is well, it is well with my soul.

4. And, Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight,
the clouds be rolled back as a scroll;
the trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend,
even so, it is well with my soul.
It is well, (it is well) with my soul, (with my soul)
it is well, it is well with my soul.
