CALL TO WORSHIP

*Hymn 307 Christ Is Risen+

Christ is risen! Shout Hosanna!
Celebrate this day of days.
Christ is risen! Hush in wonder;
All creation is amazed.
In the desert all surrounding,
See, a spreading tree has grown.
Healing leaves of grace abounding
Bring a taste of love unknown.

2 Christ is risen! Raise your spirits
From the caverns of despair.
Walk with gladness in the morning.
See what love can do and dare.
Drink the wine of resurrection,
Not a servant, but a friend;
Jesus is our strong companion.
Joy and peace shall never end.

3 Christ is risen! Earth and heaven
Nevermore shall be the same.
Break the bread of new creation
Where the world is still in pain.
Tell its grim, demonic chorus:
"Christ is risen! Get you gone!"
God the First and Last is with us.
Sing Hosanna, everyone!

WORDS: Brian Wren, 1984 MUSIC: Polish carol; arr. by Edith M. G. Reed, 1926; harm. by Austin C. Lovelace, 1964

*PRAISE AND WORSHIP

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart (Sing once)
1 I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart, (where?) down in my heart!
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy, down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart to stay!
And I'm so happy, so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!
And I'm so happy, so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!

2 I've got the peace that passes understanding down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart, (where?) down in my heart!
I've got the peace that passes understanding down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart to stay!
And I'm so happy, so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!
And I'm so happy, so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!

3 I’ve got the love of Jesus, love of Jesus, down in my heart, (where?)
Down in my heart, (where?) down in my heart!
I’ve got the love of Jesus, love of Jesus,
Down in my heart, (where?) down in my heart to stay!
And I'm so happy, so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!
And I'm so happy, so very happy,
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart!

Closer Than A Brother (Sing twice)
Closer than a brother, my Jesus is to me
He's my dearest friend, He's everything I need
He's my rock, my shield and hiding place
Closer than a brother Jesus is to me.

Lord, I lift you name on high (Sing twice)
Lord, I lift Your name on high
Lord, I love to sing Your praises
I'm so glad You're in my life
I'm so glad You came to save us
You came from heaven to earth, to show the way
From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay
From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky
Lord, I lift Your name on high

Reascends his native heaven. Alleluia!

Christ hath conquered death and sin, Alleluia!
Take the King of glory in, Alleluia!

3. See! the heaven its Lord receives, Alleluia!
Yet he loves the earth he leaves. Alleluia!
Though returning to his throne, Alleluia!

Jesus Loves Me This I Know

1 Jesus loves me! this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

2 Jesus loves me, this I know, as he loved so long ago,
taking children on his knee, saying, "Let them come to me."
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

3 Jesus loves me still today, walking with me on my way,
wanting as a friend to give, light and love to all who live.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so.

PRAYER HYMN 650 Give Me the Faith Which Can Remove

1. Give me the faith which can remove
and sink the mountain to a plain;
give me the childlike praying love,
which longs to build thy house again;
thy love, let it my heart o'er-power,
and all my simple soul devour.

2. I would the precious time redeem,
and longer live for this alone,
to spend and to be spent for them
who have not yet my Savior known;
fully on these my mission prove,
and only breathe, to breathe thy love.

3. My talents, gifts, and graces, Lord,
into thy blessed hands receive;
and let me live to preach thy word,
and let me to thy glory live;
my every sacred moment spend
in publishing the sinner's Friend.

4. Enlarge, inflame, and fill my heart
with boundless charity divine,
so shall I all my strength exert,
and love them with a zeal like thine,
and lead them to thy open side,
the sheep for whom the Shepherd died.

WORDS: Charles Wesley, 1749, MUSIC: Henry Carey, ca. 1732; harm. from The English Hymnal, 1906

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION and THE LORD’S PRAYER.

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name; Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven:
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

*HYMN OF SENDING FORTH 427 Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life+

1 Where cross the crowded ways of life,
where sound the cries of race and clan,
above the noise of selfish strife,
we hear your voice, O Son of Man.

2 In haunts of wretchedness and need,
on shadowed thresholds fraught with fears,
from paths where hide the lures of greed,
we catch the vision of your tears.

3 From tender childhood's helplessness,
from woman’s grief, man’s burdened toil,
from famished souls, from sorrow's stress,
your heart has never known recoil.

4 The cup of water given for you
still holds the freshness of your grace;
yet long these multitudes to view
the sweet compassion of your face.

5 O Master, from the mountainside,
make haste to heal these hearts of pain;
among these restless throngs abide;
O tread the city's streets again;

6 Till all the world shall learn your love,
and follow where your feet have trod;
till glorious from your heaven above
shall come the city of our God.

WORDS: Frank Mason North, 1903  MUSIC: William Gardiner’s Sacred Melodies
