Commissioning BOLD Justice House Meeting Leaders, and recognition of Wesley Groups/Study Groups

All who take upon themselves the name of Christ are called into ministries of love and service by the example of Christ. As these members or our community do the work of house meeting leaders, helping discern the work of those who care for God’s justice in Broward county, we pray the blessings of God and this community upon their endeavors.

Congregation: We recognize you as house meeting leaders for the work of BOLD Justice and dedicate you to service in the name of Jesus Christ. Through our prayers we will be united with you in this cause. May God richly bless the process of discerning the problems we should address with the power of our numbers.

Let us affirm our belief in the responsibilities of Christian service as written in the United Methodist Social Creed:

Congregation: We believe in God, Creator of the world; and in Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of creation. We believe in the Holy Spirit, through whom we acknowledge God’s gifts. We commit ourselves to the rights and dignity of all persons and to the improvement of the quality of life. We dedicate ourselves to peace throughout the world and to the rule of justice and law among all nations. We believe in the present and final triumph of God’s Word in human affairs, and gladly accept our commission to manifest the life of the gospel in the world. Amen.

Welcome to all visitors.  You are invited to stand during the service and introduce yourself, or to have someone else introduce you.  We want to give you one of our welcome packs and therefore encourage you to fill out the card and tear off the badge, write your name on it and wear it so that we can greet you during and after the service. Please note that there is a wheelchair entrance from the back parking lot through the double doors. Also the church has a wheelchair located in the back of the sanctuary for anyone who wishes to assist a person coming to a meeting. Rest rooms for the disabled are available in the Preschool wing. LARGE PRINT HYMN BOOKS ARE AVAILABLE FROM THE USHERS.

Salty Service cards are in your pew pockets. If you have done at least one hour of service this week please take one out and place it in the offering bag. This can be within or without the church, any time you help someone else.

Stan Barnett’s (786 768-8906) group meets three Wednesdays per month starting this Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., Kathy Kelly’s (954 483 5609) group now known as the Kumbayah group, regularly meets every other Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. starting Wednesday September 9. Marvia Aitken’s (954 684 4381) group meets first Thursday of the month at 7:30 p.m. Next meeting October 1.

Announcing the start of one more Wesley Group with Roland & Phyllis Abel (954 989 4188), Shirley Clarke(954 986 8693) and Shirley Gregg-Leonce(954-963-5289. Please contact these members if you would like to join this group.

BOLD Justice house meeting leaders will be asking you if you would be interested in joining with them in discussing community problems with a view toward seeing what could be done to improve things with the help of “people power” available through the large group meetings BOLD Justice will be having. Today we commission Sandy and Herb Allenson (meeting 9/10), Roland and Phyllis Abel (meeting 9/15), Stan and Dalia Barnett, Joyce Hemmans and Fay Harley, and Jeannie Grossman as house meeting leaders (meeting dates to be announced.) Please see them about the date and time of their ONE meeting.

For ongoing meetings please note that we are also getting back to study (after the summer) in the Wesley Groups.  As we roll into the new school/church year perhaps this would be a good time for you to take up with a group.

We are also planning for the Revival with the Rev. Ken Johnson October 9, 10, 11 and in preparation the Evangelism Committee is encouraging all members, if it is right with them (physical health-wise especially) to fast, that is, refrain from all foods or some foods, from Tuesday night to Wednesday noon, and to be in prayer in a special way for the Revival.  On each Wednesday for the next few weeks there will be a “fast breaking prayer meeting” in the sanctuary at noon for those who can attend. If you cannot attend please join together as a “spiritual congregation” at that time.

Also, all are invited to carry invitations to our church, and to our special events like the Revival, by visiting around the community on the next few Saturdays. We will be meeting at the church at 10 am and traveling out in groups of two. You may also do this in your own neighborhood and encourage those you know best, indeed, those who know you best, to join us for worship, mission and the justice ministries we are about.

Free VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) for all 4-year olds is available. Please see or call the Preschool director at 954-981-9269 for information and directions on where to register. Hurry! Space is limited.

If you need prayer during the week please call Grandma Hyacinth Robinson at 954-435-4036 and your concern will be put on the Prayer Chain
