Advent Study Down to Earth

A virgin birth. God’s son…a helpless baby. Fleeing certain death. Nothing about the Christmas story is ordinary. If you live in or near Century Village you may want to join Pastor Lisa of New Horizon UMC for this four-week Advent study that opens up God’s Christmas surprise to us and examines how it changed everything. $12. Beginning 10:30 am Thursday, Nov. 29th at Century Village in the Pines Jewish Center at 1200 SW 136th Ave, Pembroke Pines, FL 33027.

Registration is ongoing at the Pre School. Please contact the director Marleni Brant-Pomare at 954-981-9269. We are still accepting registration for children ages 2 to 5 years.

Welcome to all visitors. You are invited to stand during the service and introduce yourself, or to have someone else introduce you. We want to give you one of our welcome packs and therefore encourage you to fill out the card and tear off the badge, write your name on it and wear it so that we can greet you during and after the service. Note that there is a wheelchair entrance from the back-parking lot through the double doors. The church has a wheelchair in the back of the sanctuary for anyone wishing to assist a person coming to a meeting. Rest rooms for the disabled are available in the Preschool wing.

If you need anything during the service please contact one of the ushers, who will be wearing a multicolored stole/scarf. Please do not bring food or drinks into the sanctuary unless absolutely necessary. Thank you.

Prayer concerns from last week: Praising God for the new roof on the church after a stinky and noisy week, thanksgiving for the sweetness of this service and the word of God that we may be in a place of centered hope after the bomb scares and synagogue killings, for Pastor Garnes as he recovers at home, Beatrice Grossman, Annette James, Barbara and Phillip as they continue to recover, for recovery from too much rain in Trinidad, that we watch and pray “not knowing the day or the hour,” for all of us effected by the Pittsburgh shootings, joy that the bomb did not go off in Bettyanne’s hands, Christina, Sophia as she competes and for all children as they navigate a complex world, Shirley reminding us to all be available to serve, Maxwell reminding us to take care of our physical health and thankful that the commissioners can care for each other, Eileen going into hospital, the Abel family as so many suffer ill health, Tavon, Roger, Nikkie, Stacyann, Grace, Yvonne, favor for Angie, peace and love throughout the world, that love takes over this current environment of hate, healing prayers for Mike, Sherene, Fabia, Harrison, Bettyanne, Jake, Sheri, Josie Hughes, Aunt Jo, tolerance and compassion to become more widespread, Dr. Shick and Rolla Shick as she recovers, Sonia, Dexter, Althea, Sharon, Dr. Katie, Curtis, Nadage, Denese & Dorothy.
