Call to Worship

*Hymn 89 Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee
1 Joyful, joyful, we adore thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before thee,
Opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away.
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

2 All thy works with joy surround thee,
Earth and heaven reflect thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around thee,
Center of unbroken praise;
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Flowery meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in thee.

3 Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Well-spring of the joy of living,
Ocean-depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our Brother,
All who live in love are thine;
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

4 Mortals, join the mighty chorus,
Which the morning stars began;
Love divine is reigning o’er us,
Binding all within its span.
Ever singing, march we onward,
Victors in the midst of strife;
Joyful music leads us sunward
In the triumph song of life.

WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE
What a mighty God we Serve…what a mighty God we serve
What a mighty God we serve…what a mighty God we serve

Let us sing and praise the Lord… Let us sing and praise the Lord
Let us sing and praise the Lord… Let us sing and praise the Lord

Let us shout and praise His name….. Let us shout and praise His
name
Let us shout and praise His name….. Let us shout and praise His
name

What a mighty God we Serve…what a mighty God we serve
What a mighty god we serve…what a mighty God we serve

PEOPLE OF GOD
With our lips let us sing one confession
With our hearts hold to one truth alone
For he has erased our transgression
Claimed us and called us his own
His very own
We’re the people of God called by his name
Called from the dark and delivered from shame
One holy race..saints every one
Because of the blood of Christ Jesus the Son

SOMETHING ABOUT THAT NAME
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus..there’s just something about that name
Master, Savior…Jesus..like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus…let all heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away
But there’s something about that name

HOLY GROUND
This is holy ground..we’re standing on holy ground
For the Lord is present and where He is, is holy
This is holy ground..we’re standing on holy ground
For the Lord is present and where He is, is holy
These are holy hands, He’s given us holy hands
He works through these hands and so these hands are holy
These are holy hands, He’s given us holy hands
He works through these hands and so these hands are holy

*Hymn 170 O How I Love Jesus
1 There is a name I love to hear,
I love to sing its worth;
it sounds like music in my ear,
the sweetest name on earth.
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
because he first loved me!

2 It tells me of a Savior's love,
who died to set me free;
it tells me of his precious blood,
the sinner's perfect plea.
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
because he first loved me!

3 It tells of one whose loving heart
can feel my deepest woe;
who in each sorrow bears a part
that none can bear below.
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
O how I love Jesus,
because he first loved me!

Prayer Hymn 453 More Love to Thee
1 More love to Thee, O Christ,
More love to Thee!
Hear Thou the prayer I make
On bended knee;
This is my earnest plea:
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee,
More love to Thee!

2 Once earthly joy I craved,
Sought peace and rest;
Now Thee alone I seek,
Give what is best;
This all my prayer shall be:
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee,
More love to Thee!

3 Let sorrow do its work,
Come grief and pain;
Sweet are thy messengers,
Sweet their refrain,
When they can sing with me:
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee,
More love to Thee!

4 Then shall my latest breath
Whisper Thy praise;
This be the parting cry
My heart shall raise;
This still its prayer shall be:
More love, O Christ, to Thee,
More love to Thee,
More love to Thee!

Pastoral prayer and Lord’s Prayer

Let us share together The Lord’s Prayer:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven:
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

Sermon A Friend in Low and High Places

*Hymn of sending forth 569 We've a Story to Tell to the Nations

1 We've a story to tell to the nations,
that shall turn their hearts to the right,
a story of truth and mercy,
a story of peace and light,
a story of peace and light.
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
and the dawning to noonday bright,
and Christ's great kingdom shall come on earth,
the kingdom of love and light.

2 We've a song to be sung to the nations,
that shall lift their hearts to the Lord,
a song that shall conquer evil,
and shatter the spear and sword,
and shatter the spear and sword.
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
and the dawning to noonday bright,
and Christ's great kingdom shall come on earth,
the kingdom of love and light.

3 We've a message to give to the nations,
that the Lord who reigneth above
has sent us His Son to save us,
and show us that God is love,
and show us that God is love.
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
and the dawning to noonday bright,
and Christ's great kingdom shall come on earth,
the kingdom of love and light.

4 We've a Savior to show to the nations,
who the path of sorrow has trod,
that all of the world's great peoples
Might come to the truth of God,
Might  come to the truth of God!
For the darkness shall turn to dawning,
and the dawning to noonday bright,
and Christ's great kingdom shall come on earth,
the kingdom of love and light.
