Call to worship

*Hymn 327 Crown Him with Many Crowns
1 Crown him with many crowns,
the Lamb upon his throne.
Hark! how the heavenly anthem drowns
all music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing
of him who died for thee,
and hail him as thy matchless King
through all eternity.

2 Crown him the Lord of life,
who triumphed o'er the grave,
and rose victorious in the strife
for those he came to save;
his glories now we sing
who died and rose on high,
who died eternal life to bring,
and lives that death may die.

3 Crown him the Lord of peace,
whose power a scepter sways
from pole to pole, that wars may cease,
and all be prayer and praise.
His reign shall know no end,
and round his pierced feet
fair flowers of paradise extend
their fragrance ever sweet.

4 Crown him the Lord of love;
behold his hands and side,
those wounds, yet visible above,
in beauty glorified;
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
for thou hast died for me;
thy praise and glory shall fail
throughout eternity.

Children’s Time

*Hymn 364 Because He Lives
God sent His son, they called Him Jesus
He came to love, heal and forgive
He lived and died to buy my pardon
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives

How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride and joy he gives
But greater still the calm assurance
This child can face uncertain days, because He lives

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives

And then one day, I'll cross the river
I'll fight life's final war with pain
And then, as death gives way to victory
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He reigns

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living, just because He lives

Prayer Hymn 359 Alas and Did My Savior Bleed
1 Alas! and did my Savior bleed,
and did my Sovereign die!
Would he devote that sacred head
for sinners such as I?
Refrain
At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day.

2 Was it for crimes that I have done,
he groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! Grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!
At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day.

3 Well might the sun in darkness hide,
and shut its glories in,
when God, the mighty maker, died
for his own creature's sin.
At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day.

4 Thus might I hide my blushing face
while his dear cross appears;
dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
and melt mine eyes to tears.
At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day.

5 But drops of tears can ne'er repay
the debt of love I owe.
Here, Lord, I give myself away;
'tis all that I can do.
At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light
And the burden of my heart rolled away
It was there by faith I received my sight
And now I am happy all the day.

Pastoral prayer and Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven:
Give us this day our daily bread;
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, the power, and the glory,
For ever and ever. Amen.

Sermon.   Who needs a doubt(er)?

*Hymn of sending forth (CH)  I Will Sing the Wondrous Story
I will sing the wondrous story of the Christ who died for me
How He left his home in glory for the cross on Calvary
Chorus
Yes I'll sing...the wondrous story...of the Christ who died for me
sing it with the saints in glory...gathered by the crystal sea

I was lost but Jesus found me..found the sheep that went astray
raised me up and gently led me...back into the narrow way
Yes I'll sing...the wondrous story...of the Christ who died for me
sing it with the saints in glory...gathered by the crystal sea

I was bruised but Jesus healed me...faint as I from many a fall
Sight was gone and fears possessed me..but he freed me from them all
Yes I'll sing...the wondrous story...of the Christ who died for me
sing it with the saints in glory...gathered by the crystal sea

He will keep me till the river rolls its waters at my feet
Then he'll bear me safely over where the loved ones I shall meet
Yes I'll sing...the wondrous story...of the Christ who died for me
sing it with the saints in glory...gathered by the crystal sea
